Internship - Green Finance

Zeist 32-40 hours wo master € 550

WWF is an international organization for the protection of nature with the mission to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

As problems of governance, scarcity, degradation and pollution of ecosystems have spread and intensified, approaches in protecting our natural resources have diversified and have started to bring government, the public, businesses and investors together to jointly tackle some of the major impacts of economic development on natural capital.

The internship

WWF-NL recognizes the finance sector as a key lever in tackling the climate and biodiversity crises. Through our Green Finance team, we work to (i) Finance Green – by directing capital towards sustainable projects, and (ii) Green Finance – by aligning financial systems with nature-positive outcomes. Our activities include partnerships, research, project development, and influencing policy and regulation.

In the Financing Green pillar, we focus on mobilizing investments for companies and initiatives that contribute to a nature-positive economy. Examples include our involvement in the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) and Mobilizing More for Climate (MoMo4C), where we work with partners to develop Bankable Nature Solutions in the Global South.

In the Greening Finance pillar, we support financial institutions in integrating nature-related risks and opportunities into their operations. This includes partnerships with Robeco and PGB, where we explore nature integration using the TNFD framework.

We are looking for a motivated intern to support the implementation of both pillars, gaining exposure across the sustainable finance value chain.

Activities of the internship:

  • Support the implementation of the Financing Green and Greening Finance strategies.
  • Contribute to projects and programs such as the NatureWise incubation facility for Nature-Based Solutions.
  • Conduct financial modelling and assess the viability of green investments and enterprises.
  • Research emerging topics in biodiversity finance to support strategic development and stakeholder engagement.

Profile of the student:

  • Master's student in finance, economics, or a related field with a strong interest in sustainability.
  • Skilled in financial modelling and financial analysis of green investments.
  • Able to work independently and demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Based in the Netherlands and available to work 2-3 days a week from WWF's office in Zeist.

Period: 6 months, from September 2025 to February 2026

Allowance: € 550 per month on a full-time basis

Location: Office surrounded by nature in Zeist
