Zeist 32-40 uur per week WO Master € 550 (full-time)

WWF is an international organization for the protection of nature with the mission to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. The organization has independent offices in around 100 countries, forming a global network. There is a common worldwide strategy that focuses on conserving biodiversity and reducing the global footprint to a level that stays within the limits of the Earth.

WWF looks for solutions in cooperation with governments, companies, and civil society to realize protection of species and their habitats and a sustainable use of environmental resources.

 

Background

One of WWF's priority approaches is the use of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to address climate change, disaster risk reduction (DRR) and other societal challenges.

To support the design and implementation of effective NbS programs and projects, so called Integrated Landscape Plans (ILP) will be created to develop potential NBS projects at landscape scale and demonstrate the potential impact of NbS to key stakeholders. To create an ILP, a lot of research and close collaboration with local offices and Red Cross counterparts is needed. To aid this process, an e-learning needs to be created, explaining the process of creating an ILP.

To support this process, WWF-NL is developing an e-learning course on ILP for NbS and DRR. The objectives of this internship are :

  1. To support the development of this e-learning by reviewing content, improving learning materials, and creating engaging and interactive online learning experiences. 
  2. Support the technical works on landscape plans development within the NbS team.

What will you be doing?

1. Development of an e-learning on the ILP process  

Looking for an intern to support the development of an online learning course on Integrated Landscape Planning (ILP) for Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in the context of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). While the technical content has already been developed, there is a need for translating the content into an engaging, learner-friendly online course. Specific tasks include:

  • Reviewing existing course content for consistency, accuracy, relevance and alignment across modules.
  • Assessing the continued relevance and currency of examples, case studies and supporting materials.
  • Editing and improving visual materials, including infographics and diagrams.
  • Designing and developing interactive learning elements, such as quizzes, reflection exercises, knowledge checks and scenario-based activities.
  • Supporting the structuring and improvement of the learner journey to enhance usability, engagement and educational value.
  • Testing the e-learning and identifying opportunities for improvement based on user experience and feedback.
  • Coordinating with NbS team members to ensure quality and accuracy.

2. Support to the Nature-based Solutions team

In addition to the main assignment above, we are looking for someone able support to the NbS team through a range of smaller often ad-hoc tasks, including:

  • Supporting the further development and maintenance of existing NbS e-learning.
  • Conducting background research on topics relating to landscape planning and responding to an information requests. This is to support our NBS ongoing initiatives in Asia and Europe. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations for donors, stakeholders and internal audiences.
  • Supporting logistical and content preparation for work-related travel by team members.
  • Participating in testing and quality assurance of e-learning products and digital learning materials.

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Enrolled in a relevant degree programme such as, but not excluding environmental sciences, geography, land-use planning, sustainable development. Experience or interest in e-learning development, online learning platforms (programs such as Articulate), instructional design or education.
  • Affinity with NbS, landscape approaches, climate adaptation, nature conservation and disaster risk reduction.
  • Experience with or interest in interdisciplinary works. 
  • Experience with graphic design, multimedia tools or visual communication is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.

 

What do we offer?

  • 3-4 months availability starting mid-September or October for 32-40 hours a week. 
  • Internship cannot be combined with a thesis. 
  • Students in NL receive an allowance of €550,- per month on a full-time basis
  • An office surrounded by nature in Zeist.
