Intern - Nature-Positive Agriculture Communications Campaign Coordinator
The internship
This is a shared internship for WWF International (WWF-Int) and WWF-Netherlands (WWF-NL). It will involve working closely with both teams in a cross functional way, with a focus on finalising and initiating an internal and external communications campaign to strengthen outreach and engagement on 'nature-positive agriculture'. The intern will work independently with online support from the Food Practice team including Head of Nature Positive Agriculture and Food Communications Manager and in-person support from the Global Food Knowledge Manager (WWF-Int) and the WWF Food team in Zeist (WWF-NL). The in office / online days will be agreed depending on project requirements.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
- Supporting the creation of a Nature Positive Agriculture Communications Campaign including identifying existing communications platforms and channels and new opportunities e.g. podcasts, social media, scheduling priority deliverables and activities for 2025, developing key messages
- Drafting, coordinating and publishing briefing notes, blogs and social media posts, with staff including on Transition Planning, Carbon Finance, Agroecology, Deforestation and Conversion Free Supply Chains and NBS for Adaptation agendas
Supporting role:
- Supporting campaign launch with WWF-UK, a key initiative unpacking the costs of the transition from conventional to nature-positive agriculture
- Supporting launch of the Sustainable Finance for Conservation Playbook and develop an agri-food sector-specific spotlight on NBS for Adaptation with Freshwater
- Supporting the Global Community Lead for Nature Positive Agriculture with organising online WWF-network wide knowledge sessions/workshops/webinars on key themes.
Student profile
WWF is looking for a student at the MSc level or in their last year of practical university (hbo), familiar with data gathering and input, scientific writing and research, a critical thinker with project management skills who can work independently as well as in team settings. Proficiency (written and spoken) in English (essential) and possibly Dutch (not essential). The tasks are communications focused but the topic is on food systems transformation.
Therefore the student profile could vary, including the following skillsets:
- A natural science background, with a focus or interest in food or agricultural studies, environmental studies, global change studies, international development studies or related fields. Strong communication skills are essential.
- A communications or marketing background with a special interest in social media campaigns, and a keen interest and some understanding of food systems change. Strong communication skills are essential.
