The organisation consists of three departments: Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development (OTD) and Finance & Operations (F&O). The OTD and F&O department is responsible for the business operations of WWF-NL and consists of the HR, Finance, ICT and Legal & Compliance Teams. The Finance Team is responsible for the planning & control cycle of the organization, external reporting, the financial, personnel and payroll administration and the financial monitoring of the global WWF nature conservation projects. In this light, the Finance Team at WWF-NL is looking for a

 

Business Controller
(32-40 hours per week)

 

The Business Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Tanja Seydlitz.

 

Roles and responsibilities

As Business Controller you will work within the annual plan as drawn up by the CFO. In it you have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • The WWF-NL organization – You support the Conservation department in financial management. This includes drawing up and analysing periodic and ad hoc financial reports and advising on the financial and legal and compliance aspects of contracting.
  • Project cycle management – You assess proposals for (inter-)national nature conservation projects with a focus on project budgets and the application of standards. You draw up project agreements, manage them and initiate payments to contract partners. You will also assess the financial progress and results of nature conservation projects.
  • Planning and control cycle – You contribute to the creation of the annual budgets, forecast and latest estimates. You identify and analyse deviations and provide input and advice for adjustments.
  • Processes and systems – You support the Conservation department in the implementation of the internal processes for nature conservation initiatives and the use of the systems.
  • Back-up for Engagement: You support the Business Controller Engagement with financial management for the Engagement department. This includes budgeting, periodically analysing, ad hoc financial reporting and advising on the financial and tax aspects of business cases.

  • You are customer-oriented and respond alertly to requests from the (internal) client;
  • You work to the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

WWF-NL is part of a large international network, so good mastery of the English and Dutch language (both verbal and written) are necessary.

 

Experience

  • Educational background in Finance, business economics or business administration;
  • 3-5 years of work experience as a controller, and ambition to learn and grow in the job;
  • Experience with grant applications and financial management are an advantage;
  • You are experienced with Exact Globe, Salesforce, BI tooling is a pre;
  • Fluent verbal and written command of Dutch and English languages are essential;
    other languages e.g. Spanish are an advantage, but not a must.

  • An employment contract of 32-40 hours. We initially offer a fixed-term employment contract of one year with a one-month probation period;
  • Salaries that are in line with the standard in the Dutch not for profit sector; the minimum gross salary for this role is 3.726 EUR per month and the maximum gross salary is 5.752 EUR per month, depending on relevant experience (based on a 40-hour, full-time, contract) (please note: the salary associated with this position does not allow us to sponsor individuals above the age of 30 who are not eligible for the reduced salary criterion.   • Staff receive a personal budget that is made up of 8% holiday allowance and 2,08% flexible budget, and receive 6 weeks of holiday per year (based on a 40-hour contract);
  • We stimulate flexible working arrangements, the use of public transport and bike for work related travel. Employees receive an NS Business Card for 2nd class travel to and from work;
  • We also have a hybrid working model, so staff can alternate working from home and from the office.
