Internship Sustainable Diets

Zeist 32-40 hours Master student (final year) € 550

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is at the forefront of driving essential changes in food systems to promote healthier and more sustainable diets. As part of our commitment, the Planet-Based Diets Initiative seeks to increase the availability, accessibility, and uptake of nutritious and environmentally friendly food choices globally.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated intern to support our efforts in this critical area. The intern will be working with the WWF Netherlands food team as with colleagues from WWF International Food Practice. The role is hybrid with the opportunity to work from the WWF office in Zeist, as well as remotely. 

The internship

The role includes supporting key activities relating to the food and diets work within WWF, including:

  • Assisting in the launch of a new retailer methodology for promoting sustainable and healthy diets, both internally within WWF and externally.
  • Contributing to data collection and management for our dietary database.
  • Helping to set up a new retailer tool aimed at enhancing sustainable diet practices.

The intern will employ the following methodologies in their work:

  • Conducting literature research to gather relevant information and data.
  • Aggregating data from various sources to support the initiative’s objectives.
  • Organizing webinars and virtual meetings to facilitate collaboration within the WWF network.
  • Connecting with WWF colleagues and stakeholders to promote and integrate the diets work.

WWF is looking for a student with the following profile:

  • Final year Master’s student in a field related to environmental science, nutrition, public health, food systems, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in data collection and data management.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Self driven and able to manage time efficiently within set deadlines.
  • Passionate about sustainable food systems and dietary change.

Period: 5-6 months, start September 2024
Allowance: 550 euros per month based on full time work
