Intern - Green Financial Solutions

Zeist 32-40 hours Master student € 550

WWF is an international organisation for the protection of nature with the mission to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which Humans live in harmony with nature. There is a common worldwide strategy that focuses on the conservation of biodiversity on the planet and the reduction of the global footprint to a level that is within the limits of the earth. WWF looks for solutions in cooperation with governments, companies and civil society to realise protection of species and their habitats and a sustainable use of environmental resources.

The internship

WWF sees redirecting financial flows as a crucial pillar of conservation. Therefore, the Finance Practice is an important team under the WWF Conservation Department.
The goal of the internship is understanding Financing Green and Greening Finance, two pillars of work for Finance at WWF and gaining experience in the Landscape Finance solutions by supporting implementation of the landscape finance playbook and the broader Financing Green pillar with analytical skills, communication and project management related tasks.

The internship includes the following responsibilities and duties:

Analytical tasks:
1. Mapping of Green Financial Solutions and Conservation financing initiatives and creating an excel based database which will help the network identify what is happening in the various offices
2. Creating a database that can be used to update potential pipeline from the landscape finance work which the resource mobilization teams and Corporate engagement teams can utilize for any potential request of projects from various stakeholders

Communications related tasks:
1. Supporting on internal communication regarding the playbook roll and implementation
2. Supporting prepping for the various deep dive sessions for the landscape playbook

Project management related tasks:
1. Supporting project management of the Landscape Finance playbook roll out
2. Supporting coordination and managing with the various landscape teams that will be implementing the playbook


The finance team is looking for a master student with relevant background study/ affinity with conservation and finance. The student should be able to work independently (supervision is limited) and partly work at the WWF-NL office. The student needs to have excellent excel and analytical skills and English communication skills.

  • Period: From August until January (to be discussed)
  • Allowance: students achieve an allowance of € 550,- per month on a full time basis
