F&O is responsible for the operational management of WWF-NL and consists of Finance, ICT and Legal & Compliance. Compliance Coordinator

(32-40 hours p/w)


Aside from the Compliance Coordinator, the Legal & Compliance team consist of the positions of General Counsel, a Legal Counsel, a Legal Advisor Legacies and a Procurement & Contract Manager. The Compliance Coordinator reports to the General Counsel who reports to the Executive Director.


The position

As Compliance Coordinator within WWF-NL you actively monitor and promote compliance of the external and internal (WWF network-wide) integrity rules. In collaboration with the other departments, the Compliance Coordinator identifies and monitors the reliability and integrity of the activities of WWF-NL and its employees focusing on privacy, due diligence, risk management, integrity and compliance risks.

You translate applicable regulations and policies into internal processes and procedures, and you update, coordinate and implement the relevant policy. You manage compliance issues and assess compliance risks. You do this by seeking connection with the organization and creating awareness. You are also a sparring partner and advisor for the whole organization. WWF-NL is part of the international WWF network, and you will contact and liaise with the compliance functions at other WWF offices and WWF International.

The main activities consist of compliance activities, including advising on GDPR/AVG, the roll-out and implementation of local policies in areas such as integrity, due diligence, anti-fraud and corruption and risk management. In this position you have a lot of freedom but also responsibility.


Tasks and responsibilities

  • You update the compliance policy and support the development and enforcement of internal (and external) codes of conduct (i.e. related to privacy, telemarketing, due diligence, risk management, anti-fraud and corruption).
  • You coordinate and act as an advisor, sparring partner and project leader.
  • You initiate and coordinate information provision to increase awareness of compliance within the organization.
  • You have a central role in monitoring compliance aspects, and you are an internal and external point of contact for compliance and privacy-related matters.
  • You actively participate in continuous developments and improvement of the operational processes and procedures in the local organization but also within the international WWF network.  
  • You monitor and identify the internal and external environment of the organization in the field of regulations with regard to compliance and privacy, within the (international) organization itself and within the charitable sector.
  • You supervise the application and implementation of the integrity, privacy, due diligence policy and related policies.
  • You monitor the register of data processing, approve data processing agreements, monitor the protocol for data leaks and periodic execution of (D)PIAs on various main processes within the organization.
  • You perform due diligence checks on collaborating parties.
  • You support the legal team in the legal activities and the finance team to get an overview of the compliance risks in the context of risk management.


Your qualities

  • You are a firm, enthusiastic and communicative strong personality, able to take a well-founded independent point of view. 
  • You take responsibility and you set high standards for yourself and others.
  • You have a solution-oriented attitude and you can cooperate with other functions.
  • You have a degree at HBO or WO level.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience with compliance and privacy policies, the implementation and supervision.
  • You are familiar with a risk-based approach combined with seeing and making operational improvements.
  • You are excellent at working on a project basis.
  • You are able to anticipate internal and external developments.
  • Excellent English and Dutch communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work at the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.

  • Salaries that are in line with the standard in the Dutch not-for-profit sector; The minimum gross monthly salary for this role is 3.726 EUR and the maximum monthly salary is 4.654 EUR, based on relevant experience (based on a 40-hour contract) (Please note, due to the maximum salary, we are not able to sponsor a knowledge migrant permit for people above the age of 30 who are not eligible for the reduced salary criterion.   • Staff receive a personal budget that is made up of 8% holiday allowance and 2,08% flexible budget, and receive 6 weeks of holiday per year (based on a 40-hour contract);
  • We stimulate flexible working arrangements, the use of public transport and bike for work related travel. Employees receive an NS Business Card for 2nd class travel to and from work;
  • We also have a hybrid working model, so staff can alternate working from home and from the office.
